Public Health
Public health combats threats to health by implementing educational programs, developing policies, administering services, and conducting research. Over the last century, public health has led to increased life expectancies, world-wide reduction in infant and child mortality, and the elimination or reduction of many communicable diseases.

Morgan County Health Center
In 1960, Helen Bolton RN the first county health nurse made home visits on a tractor. After an 18-month demonstration an election was held.
On February 9, 1962 a special election was held to vote on 1/2 mill to retain the County Public Health Nursing Service and a vote passed 10-1.
On April 1, 1962 the nursing service started on its own and the Morgan County Health Center was formed!
Over the years the Health Center outgrew the small space in the basement of the county courthouse and purchased the current location 104 W. Lafayette St. This location was opened to the public on February 01, 1968.
